So, my mom threw this big family party for my dad’s 50th birthday last weekend. Everyone
was there. cousins, uncles, the whole crew. It was going okay until my aunt, who’s always
been a little dramatic, decided to ‘propose a toast.”.
She got up, clinking her glass, and began going on and on about ‘family is everything’ and
what a great brother my dad has been to her. but then she stopped and said, ‘Well, except

People, the room began quiet; a cemetery is even noisy omo. My dad’s face changed, my
mom looked like she wanted to disappear, and my aunt just smiled like she didn’t drop the
biggest bombshell ever.
Turns out, there’s some long-standing beef over money my grandpa left behind when he
passed, and my dad apparently got more than he was supposed to. Now half the family is
taking sides and I’m sitting here wondering why I didn’t get more cake before everything
