There’s this guy on campus who’s practically a celebrity. He’s tall, good looking, and always hanging out at the basketball court. Every time I pass by, I can’t help but notice how all the girls fawn over him. During hall week, there was a bonfire night, and I spotted him in the crowd. For the first time, he wasn’t surrounded by people, so I gathered the courage to go talk to him. We hit it off immediately, talking about everything from basketball to music. Mind you, I don’t even know how I got into a conversation about basketball. By the time the fire started dying out, he invited me to his room to continue the conversation. One thing led to another, and let’s just say I didn’t leave until the next morning. I thought we’d shared something special, but the following week, I saw him holding hands with a girl from my department. That’s when I realized she was his girlfriend. Now, every time I see them together, I feel so sorry and guilty, even though I didn’t know. The worst part? He still waves and greets me like nothing ever happened.
